Kathryn Hargreaves

In drawing, sculpture, installation, live art and curation Kathryn Hargreaves follows her heart, her intelligence and her intuition to create and promote what she terms the spiritual avant garde. she says;

The "spiritual avant garde" is art that is technically and conceptually advanced, and that resonates balance in and of the basic human components: from survival, relationship, and power to heart, truth, intuition, and spirit.

In the aura-like drawings, she creates fields of energy with line and color in abstract compositions that somehow manage to convey a subtle humor.

The small sculpture combine found and collected materials into sly and funny metaphor-stretching ends.

The installations, which are usually the settings for live art, explore the ideas of mapping, point of view, mass communication and the mysteries of moving society, as well as the individual, in a positive direction.

Dangerous Curve is a live art and exhibition space in the Artist District of Downtown Los Angeles. Kathryn and her partner, Tim Quinn, started the space in early 2004 to create a venue for live art and experimental work that was not beholden to any outside interests. In the initial 14 months, they produced 15 exhibitions and 10 live art events, garnering the respect and admiration of Los Angeles's very selective and sophisticated artist population.

Kathy and Tim also do live installation as ArsFidelis.
